The Diversity Council Task Force is launching a new learning portal in myAcademy called "The Garden: Cultivating a culture of INNclusion"

Within the last year, you’ve heard messages from Tom sharing our organization’s commitment to “create an environment that reflects the change we want to see in the world”. From there, Tom shared four main initiatives to continue the work of creating an inclusive environment. One of which included the launch of Franklin Covey’s Unconscious Bias by the Academy of Learning & Development. The result: 97% leadership participation and conversations that cultivated connections and strengthened our family’s understanding of how to best reduce bias from our decision-making.

To continue this work, “The Garden” was created to serve as a resource for team members and leaders to continue learning and connecting. So why the name? Dr. Jaye Goosby Smith, Associate Professor at The Citadel, explains:

Think about diversity and inclusion as a garden. When you think about the different types of flowers and vegetation that’s planted into a garden, that’s diversity. That includes the different human beings that make up the organization. Now when you think of inclusion, it’s the soil into which those flowers are planted. Inclusion has to do with all of the conditions that make people willing and able to bring their best to an organization to achieve its goals”.

By creating an inclusive space where every team member can thrive and reach their highest potential, the sky is the limit for what we can accomplish together.

Feel free to browse our featured articles, assessments, and videos here: The Garden: Cultivating A Culture of INNclusion. We will continue to evolve the space to include additional tools and resources.
