MIT stands for Manager in Training and is our company’s program intended for those beginning their professional career in the hospitality and tourism industry. It was developed to be the next step after completion of the RISE internship program – a pipeline bringing talented individuals to our company. MIT was designed to provide its participants with a purposeful twelve months to propel them to success with Holiday Inn Club Vacations.

Throughout the MIT program, participants will be provided structure, mentorship, and a variety of resources to teach and develop them into a well-rounded hospitality professional. Manager In Training

Our MIT program offers recent college graduates (within the past 6 months) a 12-month program designed to prepare them for a full time role as an Assistant Manager at one of our resorts.

The 12-month program will give MIT participants experience in all aspects of resort operations including: 5 months in front of house areas (e.g. guest services and activities), 5 months in back of house areas (e.g. housekeeping and engineering) and the 2 final months in their chosen location.

Upon successful completion of the program, the MIT participant will be offered a permanent Assistant Manager position at one of our resorts in either a front or back of house department. Participants should be aware these positions may become available up to 2 months before or after completion of the program and has the potential to be located at any of our locations across our resort network.

The MIT Experience Breakdown

  • Mentorship

    MIT participants will meet monthly with their mentors. Most participants will partner with at least 2 mentors - one for Front of House and one for Back of House operations.

  • Job Skills

    Participants will develop their professional skills through established learning tracks for each line of business they work in, supported by local leadership and their mentors.

  • Daily Tasks

    Immersion in daily tasks ensures that participants will be fully prepared to handle the nuances of the hospitality operation in all the different resort areas.

  • Academy Classes

    Each month, Managers in Training attend specialized seminars led by the Academy of Learning and Development.

  • Final presentations

    At the conclusion of the program, each MIT participant will have the opportunity to present a summary of their experience to highlight what they have learned and will take away from the program.

2023 Recruitment Timeline

The 2023 Manager in Training program will post positions in February and interview eligible candidates between March and May. Selected participants will start their program in early June.

  • Application – Candidates will submit their application through hicv.com/careers which will include their resume and cover letter. Their cover letter should include what they hope to gain from their experience and what contributions they plan to make during their time here at Holiday Inn Club Vacations.
  • Review Period – Once our candidates have submitted their application we will take the time to review their resume and responses to identify the best fit for next step.
  • Phone/Video Interview - Our favorite part, Live / In-person introductions via phone and / or video. Through conversation and Q&A, we will take the time to learn more about the candidate, assess their skills, and determine their potential. From here, we will identify our top candidates and will move forward with submitting to you our recommendations for Department/Leadership Interviews according to availability.

  • Offer Letter– Following the selection of your ideal candidate, Your TA Partner will provide a verbal offer on your behalf followed by an electronic offer-letter. The candidate will review said offer which will state their title, anticipated start & end date and leadership contact information.
  • Pre-screening – As part of our new team member pre-screening process, candidates will complete a Criminal Background Check and may be required to complete additional screening processes depending on the specifics of their role such as a Motor Vehicle Records Check and/or Drug Screen.

  • Orientation / Week 1– The honeymoon phase! Your first week will be dedicated to our Company Orientation, and helping you familiarize yourself with your team through a tour of your work site/resort, training & expectations of the role, and introductions to your department.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your department is willing to hire a MIT and can support the position from a budget and management standpoint, you can host one! Check with your leader to get approval for the position and connect with your Talent Acquisition partner to begin the process. Hiring begins in February each year, as the program will run from June through the following May.

MITs are all salaried and pay varies by resort and department, however there are ranges which we encourage you to stay within depending on the role. Contact your Talent Acquisition partner for the standard ranges. If you feel you need to adjust the ranges to stay competitive or be fairer compared to what current team members are making, please reach out so we can discuss your options with our compensation team.

Housing is not offered as a part of this program.

MITs are required to attend monthly Academy Classes. These are offered once a month from 2:30-4pm EST.

The Academy of Learning and Development offers a wide range of classes from personal to professional development. MITs are encouraged to take classes on myAcademy during their program. These can be virtual, in-person or self paced.

MIT’s will spend 5 months in the front of house & 5 months in the back of house, working in areas such as front desk, activities, retail, food & beverage, security, engineering/maintenance & housekeeping.

MITs are at the assistant manager level, and will take on appropriate responsibilities in each area they work. Their mentor will assist with assigning responsibilities, such as creating team members schedules, budgets and more.

Participating Resort General Managers will assign each mentor.

Upon successful completion of the program MITs will be offered an assistant manager position at one of our resorts.

We cannot guarantee there will be openings at any specific resort, though we do encourage MITs to look for openings they are interested in as they near the end of their program.

MITs are asked if they are willing to relocate to any of our resorts at the conclusion of the program. Availability of Assistant Manager openings will depend upon the organizational needs at the end of their program.
